Subscribing

I just found out you can 'subscribe' to this blog. What that means is that instead of coming here everyday, you would just open up your "FAVORITES". At the top, it will say "FAVORITES" "FEEDS" and "HISTORY". When you click on FEEDS, it will say Milano-Party of 7 and then whether there are new posts or not. Pretty Simple!

BUT, you need to set it up first. At the very bottom of the blog screen, it will say "Subscribe to Post Comments (Atom)" Fill in whatever information is required and it's done. I'm not sure yet how often it updates, but I believe it's ever 12 hours or less.

So, subscribe so you can keep up to date on us!!!

Not too bad!!! We have friends who didn't make it through and had a lot less going on then we did. While my GPA is lower than it's ever been, I didn't have 5 kids when I went through school before. As long as I keep it above a 2.0 I'm ok. Not shooting for the bottom, but "C for Chiropractic". ;)

Katelyn is such a leader

I was talking on the phone yesterday to Mikayla's news anchor teacher about some things that were going on with the news team lately. At the end of the convesation, she said that Katelyn is really excited about Mikayla and that she is following on her coat tails. She said that the news anchor are extremely popular in the halls of the school; that as they walk down the halls, kids are saying hi to them and saying "Look, there's Mikayla and Geniveve". Katelyn has begun saying "THAT is my sister!!!" She's extremely proud. Well, last week, as they were preparing for the news broadcast, in walks Katelyn with 3-4 kids following her. They walk right into the room and into the other little room where they broadcast. Katelyn proudly announces "That is where my sister sits when she does the news. And that is where "I" am going to sit next year when I do the news". She was leading a field trip!!!! This 5 year old little girl was showing these kids around and leading them on this little excursion.

This was also the first we'd heard that Katelyn wants to take over Mikayla's position next year when Mikayla moves to the Intermediate school. We'll see what happens.....tryouts for the anchor positions are the end of April.

They are HUGE

Today Mikayla and I ran to Krogers to pick up a few things. As we were going in, the Veterans were at the door collecting money for the handicap kids hospital or something. They gave Mikayla a handful of these really big tootsie rolls and she was really excited. There were two ladies in front of us who refused their tootsie rolls and the one made a comment of "My hips are already big enough." I responded with 'mine are big and then some.' Mikayla then comments "They are HUGE!!!!" The two ladies started cracking up and I said, quite embarrassed, "Mikayla, I hope you are talking about the tootise rolls and not my hips". It gave us all quite the laugh at her impecible timing. And yes, she WAS talking about the tootsie rolls.

Finals are history

Tim a I just finished up our first set of finals in the DC program and we are officially DONE with our first quarter!!! It was a challenge, but was so fulfilling and exciting at the same time. We passed all our classes and did pretty well with the adjustments. For those who don't know the sort of course load we had, we had a semester with 25.45 credit hours. This meant being in class for approx 6-8 hours 4 days a week and then homework on top of that. Our course load included: Intro to Chiropractic, Business Principles I, Intro to Clinic, Osteology, Embryology, Histology, Anatomy, BioChem I, Public Health, Medical Terminology.

Here are a couple of pictures from this quarter.

A real human spine during osteology lab.

Tim having a conversation with a skull. We had to learn 240 different elements of the skull and spinal cord....only to be asked 20 of them for our test.

The bell tower and chiropractic hands on campus.

ok, here it is..

The NEW blog. This one will be all Milano, all the time. Hopefully more family & friends will jump on board and follow us on this journey we are on.

For those just joining, I'll give some brief updates. The kids are doing great. Seth just turned 10 and is getting into skateboarding. He talks about it all the time and is in the process of buying his first 'real' board. This is a completely different lifestyle and with it comes long, shaggy hair, crazy pants and skater attitude. We used to call them 'posers' when in school and it's weird to have my son now wanting to be a 'poser'. Oh well, I guess there is worse....but I will admit that this stage of growing his hair out is driving me CRAZY!!!

Mikayla is 7 and is very active in school. She is on her school news team and broadcasts every Friday morning. To see her in action, check out http://austellprimary.typepad.com/wlam/
She also was placed in the Gifted program at her school due to her overwhelming creativity. She participated in Georgia Odessey of the Mind where her team of 7 had to solve a problem by writing and producing an 8 minute skit. They had to create their own costumes, set and write the skit, without adult help. They did a great job with it and look forward to next year.

Katelyn is, well, Katelyn. To know her is to love her. She is 5 and just lost her 4th tooth. She called me, extremely excited, because she had pulled this one out herself. If you only knew how difficult it is for her to do ANYTHING when her tooth is loose, you'd understand that this was a major accomplishment. She's doing well in Kindergarten and is working hard on reading. Oh, and she just learned to tie her shoes.

Micah is 3 and full of energy. He keeps us laughing all the time. He's getting ready to start some basic 'homeschooling' type stuff as Josette, the girl who lives with us, has expressed an interest in doing some work with him.

Jacob turned one in January and is a little monster. He definitely screams that he's the baby of the family. He is the only of our kids to really climb, and he's been found in the middle of the table, on top of the counter and constantly climbing over the arms of the couches. He definitely keeps us on our toes. At the same time, he keeps us laughing as much as Micah does. He loves to dance and has the funniest little 'shake' when music comes on.

That's the update on the kids. I'll work on posting some pictures of them all as this blog progresses.

I hope that you will make it a point to check in often. We'd love to hear from all of you!!! If you have a blog or website, we'd love to add it to our favorite places at the bottom of the site.
